The problem

Why Nikita Lamanov created the MitKin.

I always lead an active life: I play basketball, engage in music, work on various projects, and constantly try new things. But prolonged power outages in Ukraine can instantly halt everything - from work and study to everyday communication and favorite activities. This problem is especially close to me. After the start of the full-scale war, my home was destroyed, and part of the Donetsk region I come from ended up under occupation. I know how people live there under prolonged blackouts - sometimes without light, without the ability to charge a phone, or access to electricity for many hours or even days.So I wanted to create not just a functional device, but a real survival tool - compact, autonomous, and convenient to use. A device that would combine light, backup power, and the ability to generate energy in one solution, and help people stay independent from the power grid even in the most difficult conditions.

I wanted to create not just a lamp, but a real survival tool

The invention

How the MitKin works.

MitKin is an autonomous multifunctional lamp created out of necessity: to help people stay connected and not be left in the dark during prolonged blackouts. The name MitKin combines the names of its creator - Nick - and his brother Tim. Their combination forms the name of the invention. The lamp has a built-in power bank that allows charging necessary devices even when there is no electricity. A removable solar panel allows the lamp to be charged with solar energy, ensuring autonomy even during a complete blackout.MitKin can be controlled from a smartphone via a special app: the user can adjust the brightness and color of the light, as well as optimize its use to save energy. Thus, MitKin combines lighting, backup power, and a renewable energy source in one compact device - to stay autonomous, charged, and connected even when there is no electricity around.
