While figure skating, I noticed that traditional metal skate blades are quite heavy. During many hours of training, performing jumps, spins, and complex combinations, athletes constantly have to lift and move the extra weight of their equipment. This can contribute to faster fatigue and place additional strain on muscles and joints. I began to wonder: why do modern technologies allow for the creation of extremely lightweight sports equipment, yet figure skate blades remain relatively heavy? Is it possible to reduce their weight without sacrificing strength, reliability, and the characteristics needed to perform complex elements? This very question inspired me to create the invention "Lightweight Blades for Figure Skating." My idea is to improve the blade design in order to reduce its mass while preserving functionality. I aim to make skates more comfortable for athletes of all skill levels. After all, in figure skating, even a small improvement in equipment can become an important step toward new possibilities.
