Meeting a Friend of Ukraine

As part of their educational visit to the United States, participants of the Ukraine Invention Convention had the privilege of meeting Congressman Joe Courtney, a longtime supporter of Ukraine and advocate for international cooperation.

The students presented the innovative projects they had developed through the Ukraine Invention Convention program, sharing how science, engineering, and creativity continue to flourish despite the challenges of war.

What was planned as a brief meeting quickly turned into a warm, open, and meaningful conversation. Congressman Courtney took the time to get to know each participant, ask thoughtful questions, and listen carefully to the students’ stories, ideas, and experiences.

Following the discussion, Congressman Courtney personally gave the delegation a tour of his office and proudly shared one of its most unique features—his remarkable collection of submarine memorabilia. As a longtime advocate for Connecticut’s submarine industry, he spoke about the history behind the collection and his work supporting the state’s shipbuilding community, giving students a fascinating glimpse into an important part of Connecticut’s heritage.
