Ukraine Invention Convention — a national platform shaping a new generation of Ukrainian inventors — was presented in Kyiv
A presentation of the Ukraine Invention Convention (UKRIC) took place at the Parkovyi International Exhibition Center in Kyiv. This is a new national platform designed to develop youth invention in Ukraine and bring together schoolchildren, educators, the state, business, and international partners around a common goal — building an innovation nation.
The event gathered about 50 participants — representatives of the public sector, educational institutions, civil society, business, and media. Guests learned about the platform’s concept, the results of the pilot program, and plans for scaling it up across Ukraine.
The Ukraine Invention Convention was created based on the model of the Connecticut Invention Convention (USA), which has been operating successfully for more than 43 years. The Ukrainian program helps schoolchildren go through the entire path from identifying a problem to creating a working prototype and presenting it, developing critical thinking, entrepreneurial skills, and an engineering approach to solving real-world challenges.
During the presentation, the UKRIC team shared the results of the first pilot program, which took place in 2026 in Donetsk region. Despite difficult security conditions, students created their own prototypes to address pressing wartime problems. A particular achievement was that Ukrainian schoolchildren won three of the five global Dassault Systèmes awards, for which about 50,000 young inventors from various countries around the world competed. Later, a delegation of five students presented their inventions in the United States of America.
The organizers paid special attention to the program’s methodology. The training lasts nine weeks and is built on a seven-step invention model: from problem identification and research to prototype creation, testing, and the final presentation. The program uses professional tools, including the Dassault 3DEXPERIENCE platform, which allows students to work on real engineering solutions rather than just school projects.
During the event, the team also presented its strategic vision for UKRIC’s development. In the near future, the program will expand to new regions of Ukraine, and its long-term goal is to engage 10,000 students annually by 2031 and build a modern ecosystem of youth invention in Ukraine.
An important topic of the meeting was future partnership between education, the state, the civil sector, and business. According to the UKRIC team, this kind of cooperation is a key condition for shaping a new generation of Ukrainian innovators who will create technological solutions for the country’s recovery and development.
Starting September 1, UKRIC is opening applications for high school students from frontline regions and Kyiv region who wish to join the program’s next cohort.
The Ukraine Invention Convention (UKRIC) is more than an educational program. It is a platform that helps young Ukrainians turn their own ideas into real inventions, represent Ukraine on the international stage, and already today contribute to its future.
